introduction to graduate studies

Fall 2018

Course #700

This image depicts two of the ceramic light sculptures I made this semester installed in the newly renovated Madison Municipal Building. I was thrilled to be involved in Municipal Restored—a celebratory exhibition and event marking the grand opening of the new municipal building—and to see my light pieces in the space of the City of Madison zoning and planning offices; a space not separate from everyday life and work. Most recently, domestic objects crafted out of clay are playing a part in my exploration of an internal story. Pulling from objects found in domestic spaces, like lamps, my ceramic sculptures trace and reinvent spaces and forms, inviting metaphors about our interiors, our minds, and the energy that can exist in our environments.
