The site photographed above is the location where Ecusta Paper Mill was once in operation. Ecusta was one of several active industries in Transylvania county during the 20th century. This image in embedded in a paper titled The Land of Waterfalls: Industrial History, Environmental Impact, Conservation, and Sustainable Practice. The paper discusses each of these topics, specifically pertaining to water, as well as my personal relationship to the local history and land.
