The show takes place in a house where I act as both curator and listing agent, and each piece of art relates in some way to the room it is exhibited in. This diorama shows the basement, where Francis Alys’ Tornado is projected on a wall. One’s initial response may be humorous or tongue-in-cheek. Upon further reflection, the power of this piece becomes amplified as the viewer is positioned in a dark, underground cellar meant for hiding and protection, while watching someone willing flinging themself into danger, in hopes of reaching the eye of enlightenment in the calm of the storm.
