This photograph is a still from the performance piece I did in Piazza della Signoria. My goal was to shave my armpits and my legs completely in a public space. I had done the performance in Madison, WI and did not think I would run into any difficulties. Mid-shave, a municipal police officer approached me and asked me to stop what I was doing. Later I was fined for violating a law that says it is illegal to perform a private act of cleanliness in a public space.
