Nail polish, polish remover, an cotton rounds were used. Yue Shi carries out the act of painting her nails, but it slowly leads to her painting the scarred and wounded skin on her thumbs. The polish is then carefully removed from her nails and in the end the only thing with nail polish on it is the scarred skin of her thumbs.
