This essay examines the material presence of three elements, blood, birds, and plastics across three performance pieces done by Chilean duo Las Yeguas del Apocalipsis between the years 1989 and 1991. The exploration of Las Yeguas’ use of these three elements posits a queer poetics of illness and death that is exemplified by these pieces.
