A meditation over crossings escaped enslaved Africans made from bondage to liberty, "Over Crossing" is a sunrise journey by canoe across Lake Monona evoking through a serenade of Negro spirituals the moment when freedom and consciousness merge.

PERFORMANCE DETAILS

Time

Four consecutive Sundays: July 11, 18, 25, and August 1, from 5:30 - 7:00am.

Please allow for 90 minutes of event time.

LOCATION

Launching from the Isthmus.

After signing up, you will receive an email with the specific address.

LOGISTICS

One to two persons only and one of them must be proficient at paddling a canoe. If only one person is in attendance, then she/he must be a proficient paddler. Since we are dealing with a transport vehicle that can be very unsteady/unstable, should someone with accessibility needs participate, they must be accompanied by someone who can aid in their getting in and out of the canoe and who will take responsibility for them should there be any mishap during transit. All participants must be vaccinated and show a vaccination card; masking is optional. Participants will be provided with a life-vest or are encouraged to provide their own, if that is their preference.

Donations will be accepted as free-will. No minimum is asked.
